Microsoft releases Bing to the UK audience

13th November 2009

Microsoft has officially released its finished Bing product, with eyes to cut into the market domination which Google has secured over the last few years.

It is believed by the website's developers that there will be more informed choices being made by users of Bing, noting that it carried out extensive research into behaviour.

Other updates have been made in recent weeks, owing mainly to feedback from beta users as well as searching habit trends and other more individual requirements.

Vice-president and managing director of Microsoft UK's Consumer and Online business Ashley Highfield said: "Bing is ready for the UK consumer, with our revolutionary way of searching the internet proving very popular.

"Features such as Categorised Search, Twitter and Visual Search are providing a different and intuitive experience, and are enabling us all to make informed decisions and discover more of the web - faster."

This week, Google added the World Bank to its list of sources of statistical data to search engine results, allowing users to read up on topics such as electricity consumption or carbon dioxide emissions per capita.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).ADNFCR-1071-ID-19459753-ADNFCR
