Twitter and LinkedIn deal is 'big business news'

12th November 2009

The recent agreement struck up between Twitter and LinkedIn is huge for the world of networking between companies on the internet and beyond, it is believed.

Pete Goold, the managing director of online PR consultant Punch Communications, said the deal between the two major Web 2.0 players signalled a partnership which could be key in the evolution of social media and how it can be used by small businesses in IT in their day-to-day interaction.

"LinkedIn is the core online network for those individuals in the modern business sector who are looking to connect with one another, and so the participation of Twitter in these circles could serve to accelerate any of its developments as a business communications medium," he added.

Mr Goold also noted how Twitter will benefit from improved corporate communication, while LinkedIn will want to do all it can with the additional features Twitter can offer, especially in how it brightens the network and provides a "real time stream of fresh content".

Recently, Twitter continued its way to cultural high-life by spawning its first television show, based on an account about things a man's dad says, which will be commissioned by CBS.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).ADNFCR-1071-ID-19457663-ADNFCR
