Windows 7 will 'maintain Microsoft market dominance'
Windows Vista should be shunned in favour of the newest operating system available in all small businesses in IT, according to a technology specialist.
Paul Trotter, the editor of PC Advisor, said Windows 7's predecessor, Vista, was so unpopular compared to any other release and believes it hit a number of "teething problems" when it was first released, especially in terms of compatibility with hardware.
However, the newest system is much better, with the expert adding: "I think it's fair to say that Windows 7 is quicker. It is definitely a worthy upgrade.
"Microsoft are still top with about with a market share of 80 to 95 per cent and, even if they put out a stinker, Microsoft would be here for some years yet."
He said that other operating systems being developed by Google and Apple look like they will be interesting offerings, yet they do not seem to be as approachable as Microsoft's offering.
Chris Brennan, a blogger for PC Pro and a self-confessed Mac owner, recently admitted that Windows 7 is faster than Apple's Snow Leopard, converting him to the technology.
According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).
