YouTube hits one billion views a day
In a landmark moment for the website, YouTube has announced that web users are watching videos more than one billion times a day.
According to Chad Hurley, the video website's chief executive announcing the record on the company blog, the milestone is the biggest in the company's history, or at least since it was acquired by Google three years ago.
He said: "I'm proud to say that we have been serving well over a billion views a day on YouTube. This is a great moment in our short history and we owe it all to you."
YouTube was only launched in February 2005, showing the power which can be afforded to popular portals for people whether they're at home or working in a small business in IT.
It follows good news from YouTube for viewers, as the website agreed terms and conditions with Warner Music to bring the organisation's offerings back to the site after a dispute over royalties.
In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.
