Cyber crime will 'never be wiped out'

22nd September 2009

Cyber crime will always exist, according to an expert at a recent get-together in London for the technology market.

Spencer Kelly, the presenter of Click, made his comments at the Gartner Information Security Summit, which took place at the London Lancaster Hotel in the capital between September 21st and 22nd.

He explained: "Cyber crime is big business and organised criminals have therefore [become interested] because there's so much money to be made.

"There is an entire economy - it's a proper industry that has built up where you have different levels of service providers."

He emphasised that while it will never be stamped out, it will certainly be cut down on in the coming years as there is more co-operation between authorities between country borders.

In 2008, the worldwide security software market grew by 19 per cent according to Gartner, which further anticipates it to grow by 13 per cent in 2010.

In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.ADNFCR-1071-ID-19373251-ADNFCR
