Spotify 'highlights technology industry's direction'
Spotify is making headway in the music industry and is providing a service which could push forward the popularity of certain technologies and consumer demands, it is believed.
Simon Barker, the editor of Zath.co.uk, said the trend was so strong, current fundamentals could change hugely.
"There's a very good chance that streaming music services - including paid subscription models for unlimited access - will ultimately overtake purchasing individual songs to be stored locally," Mr Barker explained.
He added that with mobile internet connections becoming more advanced in the near future, as well as more reliable and widespread, the popularity of services in the cloud will likely expand - a method which already supports a number of applications helping small businesses in IT.
Until then, Mr Barker believes that downloaded playlists with offline storage will be necessary for people to get by until technology advanced to such a stage.
Spotify, announced the availability of its Spotify App for the iPhone and iPod touch on September 7th.
In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.
