Opera 10 passes 10m downloads
The Opera 10 browser could be mounting a strong case against fellow open source browser Mozilla Firefox following the announcement that record levels of downloads have been recorded.
Today, the organisation revealed that it had been downloaded ten million times.
Jon von Tetzchner, the chief executive officer of Opera Software, explained that Opera 10 has far exceeded any previous records ever held by the organisation, adding that download rates have consistently grown with each consecutive launch.
"To us, this means that Opera 10 delivers a more compelling reason to choose Opera, and that reason is Opera Turbo," the expert explained.
Mr von Tetzchner continued: "The concept of turbo browsing was the result of our One Web initiative, as our goal is to ensure that Web browsing is fast, efficient and universal, anytime, anywhere."
Opera Software was founded in 1995 in Oslo, Norway and promotes web standards as set out by the World Wide Web Consortium.
In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.
