Trojan.Clicker.CM tops table of e-threats

BitDefender has released its Top Ten E-Threats for August - a lowdown on the worst of the worst viruses and bugs which can infect and infest computers around the world.

Top of the table is the formidable Trojan.Clicker.CM, which is one of many worms which is on the hitlist of targets for companies to neutralise with various anti-virus software or defend against with disaster recovery or online data backup.

Commenting on the winner of the poll, BitDefender explained: "This Trojan is also becoming increasingly present on "warez" websites (download portals hosting cracks and keygens for commercial applications)."

Second -placed Trojan.AutorunINF.Gen has the infamous reputation of causing 10 per cent of the total number of computer infections globally, it was added, while number three Trojan.Wimad.Gen.1 affects .asf files, downloading false video codecs and causing six per cent of registered incidents.

Trojans are named after the mythical Trojan horse in Greek lore due to their ability to create a way to get a hacker into someone else's computer to extract data and information.
