IT security professionals 'not using passwords'
In a not-so-beautiful twist of irony, it has been discovered that IT security specialists working with small businesses in IT are not bothered with passwords on smartphones, according to a new survey.
Credant Technologies made the announcement after speaking to 227 IT professionals from around the country, discovering that 80 per cent did not password-protect their business names and addresses while 12 per cent did not even put one on their bank account details when using mobile technology.
Andrew Kahl, senior vice-president of operations and co-founder of Credant Technologies, explained that many small businesses in IT could be exposing themselves to major breaches of the Data Protection Act.
He continued: "It is alarming to note that the very people who are responsible for IT security are not much better at protecting the information on their business phones than most of their co-workers, who don't necessarily know any better."
Last month, it was found that many obsessive workers are using laptops and mobile devices while in bed, spending between two and six hours a week typing from their boudoir.
A recent Connect survey found that the two major concerns about outsourcing services like IT support were 'loss of control' (56 per cent) and 'budget over-runs' (43 per cent).
