Gartner: Cloud computing must be combined

23rd June 2009

Companies focusing on one single aspect of cloud computing will not succeed in their implementation of virtualised software, according to a new report.

Gartner, a leading market intelligence company, stated that through the use of a combination of programs, organisations will be able to succeed in delivering a better quality of service as there is less chance of singular failure.

It was explained that such technology should not have the "off the shelf" approach and should instead be tailored to the desires of the individual who wishes to invest in it.

Furthermore, elasticity and scalability are recommended as these will allow for increased automation.

The report continued: "Elasticity is associated not only with scale but also an economic model that enables scaling in both directions in an automated fashion.

"This means that services scale on demand to add or remove resources as needed."

Earlier this week, Gartner also revealed that the electronics industry will enter into sustainable recovery in 2010.

More than half of small businesses (53 per cent) believe that the most important benefit of outsourcing is guaranteed response times for IT support. London-based Connect conducted the research in 2007.ADNFCR-1071-ID-19232845-ADNFCR
