Outsourced software is 'seen as more safe'

11th June 2009

Outsourced software is seen as a safer investment by small businesses in IT as well as their larger counterparts, a recent survey has discovered.

According to Forrester Research, things such as customer relationship management are seen as more desirable to SMEs now more than ever.

Only 27 per cent of small businesses in IT who have not invested in the services cite security as an issue deterring them, whereas 57 per cent believed it to be the case two years ago.

However, 57 per cent of these minor organisations believed open-source alternatives to be hard to adopt, with a large number also putting little faith in their security.

Many were also concerned with the ability to get hold of service and support for such products, forcing many to stay away from any chance of adopting it.

Forrester Research was founded in 1983 and works with professionals in 19 key roles to deliver the most accurate IT and technology research possible.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).ADNFCR-1071-ID-19215322-ADNFCR
