IT jobs market deterioration 'much slower'
The jobs market for IT support workers and associated industries has showed a much slower decline this month, adding to hopes that the sector is recovering, a new report stated.
In the new publication carried out by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG found that candidate availability continued to rise at a strong rate while contractions in permanent placements and temporary billings continued to ease.
Mike Stevens, partner and head of business services at KPMG, explained that there is hope for the UK jobs market in that it has overcome the worst, citing May as being the third month in a row which has demonstrated this trend.
He continued: "Demand for staff is still falling but much less fast than at the beginning of the year and many employers seem to be holding off shedding staff and contemplating recruitment."
REC is currently supporting National Temporary Workers Week, which is being observed between June 1st and 5th.
According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).
