Flexible working can 'enhance productivity of SMEs in IT'

15th May 2009

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) working in IT should consider flexible working as a way of enhancing productivity in their office, it has been stated.

Editor of babyworld.co.uk Debbie Bird said that while many people can see the home experience as lonely when it comes to doing work, it not only saves time and money in travelling but also allows people to see family with greater ease, improving morale and personal happiness.

She continued: "I can also manage my family and their needs as my time can be flexible to allow me to attend school performances, sports day and plays."

Ms Bird emphasised that life is a "permanent juggling act" and as a result, the flexible working approach can help people maintain a better balance between their job and life in general, thus enhancing the performance of their firm through a more positive atmosphere.

Her comments come shortly after the announcement by the Office for National Statistics that two-thirds of mothers are working in the UK, highlighting the need for a greater focus on family values.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).ADNFCR-1071-ID-19172564-ADNFCR
