'Plenty of technology available' for home workers
Companies wishing to assist their employees in working from home now have an amazing amount of technology at their disposal if they want to succeed, according to an expert.
Mike Ballantine, the business development manager at global enterprise communication company Aastra, stated that with the market being so full of providers of systems to aid with this IT support, it is much easier to deploy a cost-effective and sensible solution for everyone.
He noted that people working from home will have flexibility through their choice of technology, adding: "Most people will have some sort of broadband connectivity. You need a broadband router and then you can normally have a choice of what sort of device you want to connect to it."
Mr Ballantine also suggested that businesses may want to limit their remote working to key employees who will keep the business functioning at all times.
Remote working may also be a great way of counteracting major fears in the modern world, following a recent Aastra report which specified that Nokia, Samsung and Adidas have imposed temporary travel bans following fears surrounding swine flu.
In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.
