Chance for IT investment 'seized during recession'

6th May 2009

Two-thirds of UK businesses in a recent survey stated that the recession provides a great opportunity to invest in IT support, systems and other technology projects.

CRN reported today that Centralis found 69 per cent of businesses relishing the chance to sustain their current investment or to put more capital in expenditures in the industry.

Speaking to the news provider, managing director of Centralis Ewen Anderson said that virtualisation is a particularly attractive option for many hoping to cut down on their overheads, preferring to outsource their services.

He continued: "This allows the implementation of policies such as flexible working, providing a secure way for staff to work offsite and reducing costs in tough economic times by enabling initiatives such as shared services and branch office consolidation."

It follows comments made by Ross Taylor of DirectResponse, who recently commented that management issues relating to in-house servers are completely done away with following a solid investment in outsourced IT support.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).ADNFCR-1071-ID-19156403-ADNFCR
