Database 'unlikely to stop terrorism'
Plans to keep records on internet access and behaviour are unlikely to help the war on terrorism, it has been claimed.
Government proposals to log online and mobile phone traffic will follow in the footsteps of other failed measures, according to Spy Blog.
The source said that a central communications database shows that Labour politicians believe that collecting lifestyle pattern data will allow them to spot terrorists.
However, the web blog added that this is similar to "searching for a needle in a haystack by throwing several more haystacks at the problem".
It added that the plans will result in innocent people having their data "trawled through", something which has not worked in previous years for either direct marketing companies or anti-terrorist finance bureaucracy.
Earlier this week, Spy Blog claimed that the government should put a stop to proposals for a communications database due to concerns over network and IT security.
A recent survey for Connect found that one in ten companies has lost important data as a result of a backup failure. The company has now developed a unique online backup service for SMEs to ensure they can survive any disaster.
