Firms make 'small but important' IT errors

16th March 2009

Businesses often let small errors have a large impact on the usability of their website, it has been claimed.

Steve Simmonds, business manager at Design UK, speaking at Technology for Marketing and Advertising, commented that these mistakes mean that firms are not engaging with visitors as well as they could, those in the IT support may be interested to hear.

He said: "Sometimes it can be [something that's been] completely overlooked. It might just be a very minor thing but it's minor things that can [cause problems]."

Mr Simmonds stated that those in business IT are often surprised to find that their website is not attracting and engaging consumers, adding that these people should look into what is and what is not working when they first design their online presence.

The Technology for Marketing and Advertising 2009 event took place at London's Earls Court 2 on February 24th and 25th.

A recent survey for Connect found that one in ten companies has lost important data as a result of a backup failure. The company has now developed a unique online backup service for SMEs to ensure they can survive any disaster.
