IT companies 'will produce more useful technologies'

20th February 2009

Future IT developments will see companies producing more useful, productive and profitable technologies for business to use to their advantage, it is predicted.

Rationalisation among IT companies will see more clear and focused efforts, says Tudor Aw, technology partner at KPMG, which could help give firms a boost during the difficult economic times.

"Maybe as a result of that we'll see a better bang for our buck," he comments.

The developments could benefit firms in terms of things such as IT support, disaster recovery and computer networks, helping them get more out of their investments.

Mr Aw gave his comments at the Intellect Annual Regent Conference 2009 in London earlier this month.

Delegates discussed how trends in IT, telecoms and digital media expenditure will affect the sectors.

The event suggested that mobile internet, security and smart devices will be among the technologies offering revenue opportunities in the coming years.

According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).
