IT companies will 'not leave money alone'

12th February 2009

Major companies working in the IT sector will not hold back on their spending during the recession, a sector commentator has stated.

Peter Rowell, the executive chairman at Regent Partners, an investment banking company which specialises in the technology industry, made his comments to the Intellect Annual Regent Conference 2009.

He said: "These companies are not just going to sit on that cash but they're obviously going to make sure they are in secure positions. There's a lot of cash there. There's also a lot of cash in private equity."

Mr Rowell added that as other companies failed, organisations would be still looking for potential buy-out targets to strengthen their position during the recession and set themselves up after the markets recover.

The conference also addressed major issues in telecoms and digital media expenditure as well as other things which may affect businesses using IT support.
