Other technologies 'will be unleashed' by next-gen broadband
Technologies will be created to advance the internet off the back of next-generation fibre-optic broadband, it has been stated.
Government relations liaison officer for the British Computer Society (BCS) David Evans said the delivery of next-generation broadband access in the UK would create a number of new online tools, perhaps including cloud computing.
Mr Evans made his comments at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on January 14th when he was speaking at the Joint Westminster eForum & Westminster Media Forum keynote seminar, Digital Britain.
He stated: "Semantic web technology and its cousin agent-based computing could transform the web from a series of interlinked documents into a global database programme."
Mr Evans also challenged the experts of today as to whether or not it would be achievable for people to match the attainments of engineering specialists from the past.
Founded in 1957, the BCS is a major organisation specially created for people in the information technology industry.
In a recent survey of SMEs for Connect, the two most important benefits of outsourcing were guaranteed response times and allowing in-house IT staff to concentrate on more strategic issues.
