Online fraud to be fought by new group
The British Computer Society (BCS) has announced that it is to tackle the problems created by online fraud through a new specialist task force.
Formed this week, the BCS Cybercrime Forensics Specialist Group is to look into the ways to prevent digital crime and collect online data for use as evidence in court, should a criminal be brought up in front of a judge for actions carried out on the internet.
Denis Edgar-Nevill, a BCS fellow and the group's chairman, said that the growing complexity of online fraud was making it a lot more important to keep researching the internet landscape, which it hopes it will achieve in time for the Olympic Games.
He continued: "We particularly want to look at how the Chinese tackled this issue in the lead up to this year's Olympics Games.
"As we move closer to 2012, cybercrime will become an even more important focus for the UK."
The BCS was established in 1957 and now has over 65,000 members worldwide.
More than half of small businesses (53 per cent) believe that the most important benefit of outsourcing is guaranteed response times for IT support. London-based Connect conducted the research in 2007.
