Nearly 75% of IT support believe skills gap is 'growing'
Recent research has found that most IT support executives and technicians believe a skills shortage exists in the UK technology sector.
According to the IT Job Board, 72 per cent of respondents said they felt this ability gap would widen with each year, with most citing a lack of professionals and the fast pace of the sector as a whole.
Managing director of the IT Job Board Alex Farrell said that for the UK to stay ahead of this threat, it needed to attract a high quality of personnel from both domestic and international locations otherwise the correct skills would not be learned across the country.
He added: "The IT sector is a rapidly evolving one, and it is down to employers to invest in their staff, both via systems and training, to ensure they stay up-to-speed with the changes."
Earlier this month, Mr Farrell revealed that 81 per cent of IT support individuals were ready to move abroad for better work opportunities.
According to a recent survey by Connect, the two biggest IT headaches for businesses were 'everyday hassles with IT' (37 per cent) and 'security concerns' (32 per cent).
