British IT support workers 'ready to move abroad'

9th December 2008

A recent survey has found that 81 per cent of IT support professionals would be willing to up sticks and move to another country for work.

The IT Job Board found that nearly two-thirds of respondents also search for international jobs, with 36 per cent citing the language barrier as the main reason they may struggle to find a new career in another country.

Managing director of the IT Job Board Alex Farrell said that he found it encouraging that IT support workers in the UK are looking further afield to expand their knowledge.

He continued: "It is also good to see that IT professionals believe the UK will have the biggest demand for IT jobs and that large numbers would relocate to other national cities for employment."

Mr Farrell concluded that UK employers still continued to present the "right environment" for staff, with the current economic backdrop not really affecting these.

The IT Job Board is a leading partner of recruitment agencies around the world, providing job opportunities solely in the industry.

A recent Connect survey found that the two major concerns about outsourcing services like IT support were 'loss of control' (56 per cent) and 'budget over-runs' (43 per cent).
