UK directors 'turn to the north'
A recent survey has discovered that there has been a gradual migration of business executives and directors to the north of England due to IT support advances.
The Annual Survey of UK Company Directors 2008 has showed a movement of high-end employees from the south to more northerly regions, even though the main base still remains to be London.
Despite this, the south still registered the biggest fall in company directors, dropping by 8.1 per cent on the previous year, joined by the south coast, East Anglia and the south-west, all losing over five per cent of their directors in the last 12 months.
The biggest areas for registering relocation included the north-west and Midlands, which both grew by over five per cent, closely followed by the north-east, Scotland and Wales.
Those wanting to find out more about British businesses are able to access records themselves from Companies House, which stores information under the Companies Act 1985.
