MI6 recruiting spies through Facebook

29th September 2008

The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), better known to many others as MI6is looking to recruit more people through the use of social networking site Facebook, it has emerged.

In an attempt to widen its diversity of applicants, the SIS has redesigned its own website to attract more applicants to its helm, but has notably increased its online campaigns to widen its appeal to a broader audience.

One pop-up advert told potential recruiters: "Time for a career change? MI6 can use your skills.

"Join us as an operational officer collecting and analysing global intelligence to protect the UK."

Noting that there had been a good response already, MI6 has also invested time and effort into radio and television campaigns.

The SIS was established in October 1909 as the Secret Service Bureau after the threat of Germany's naval and military expansion became a necessary platform for covert international intelligence to ensure Britain's safety and prosperity.

More than half of small businesses (53%) believe that the most important benefit of outsourcing is guaranteed response times for IT support, London based Connect conducted the research in 2007.
