Data recovery technology spells doom for cheating partners, it has been claimed.
Industry reporter Peter Thatiah made his comments in an article for the Standard, suggesting there is so much technology which can recover computer and mobile phone records that the "domestic leash" is tightening for errant lovers.
"Thanks to unbridled access to mainly electronic data, many private investigators are custodians of secrets that are momentous enough to finish many a high-flying career," he continued.
It is important to remember that no one is immune from these data recovery technologies, he added.
According to the website of the Advanced Surveillance Group, although many people delete information from their PCs, it remains on the computer and can be accessed through data recovery.
It claims deleted computer files can be accessed, even if the hard drive has been reformatted.
Furthermore, the company explains, it is possible to decrypted encrypted files and recover data such as when files were accessed and deleted.
A recent survey for Connect found that one in ten companies has lost important data as a result of a backup failure. The company has now developed a unique online backup service - http://www.connect.co.uk/services/online_backup for SMEs to ensure they can survive any disaster
