UK 'a spam hotspot'
The UK is a spam and phishing hotspot, it has been suggested.
Anti-spam software company ClearMyMail said there was an average of 30,846 spam emails blocked for each customer in the second quarter of the year, ITPro reported.
It stated the figure for the first three months of the year was 8,156 emails blocked per customer.
According to the news provider, ClearMyMail managing director Dan Field commented: "Unless ISPs, anti-spam and anti-virus providers all work together, the quantities of hoax spam entering email accounts will just continue to rise."
He referred to the data as being "increasingly worrying" and suggests that action "desperately needs to be taken".
The UK payments association Apacs recently warned that online banking customers continue to be targeted by fraudsters with phishing attacks and spyware scams.
It suggested criminals continue to target online banking customers through phishing and spyware scams because the banks' own systems have proved difficult to attack.
New research from Connect found that, on average, it takes businesses that use backup tapes take 11.6 hours to retrieve and restore files. Connect is now recommending that SMEs switch to www.connect.co.uk/services/online_backup
