Fujitsu 'set for 500 job losses'
Five hundred Fujitsu employees with "specialist IT and general project skills" look likely to be made redundant, according to a report.
The job losses are expected in various areas including software and solutions, business consulting and service delivery management, ComputerWeekly.com says
It adds the company had previously issued a warning in June of 700 potential job cuts, when employees were placed on 90 days' notice of possible redundancy.
According to the news provider, it is anticipated that Fujitsu will issue firm redundancy notices by the end of next month.
The news comes after a report on the same website earlier stated that IT suppliers so far appear resilient to the effects of the credit crunch.
It cited research from Ernst & Young which found there was almost a 50 per cent decrease in the number of UK technology suppliers issuing profit warnings in the last quarter than in the first three months of the year.
A recent survey for Connect found that one in ten companies has lost important data as a result of a backup failure. The company has now developed a unique online backup service - http://www.totalrecall.co.uk for SMEs to ensure they can survive any disaster
