Fujitsu Services wins European Commission account
IT services company Fujitsu has been awarded a contract for the Directorate General for External Relations of the European Commission.
Fujitsu's remit will cover helpdesk management, infrastructure management, user management and project management for the Delegations of the European Commission, which has over 5,000 users.
Security audits will also be carried out by Fujitsu as well as design of the ICT infrastructure.
"This new contract will allow us to pursue and develop our activities among the European Institutions, which, for Fujitsu Services, represent a strategic sector of activities," Yves Schellekens, managing director Fujitsu Services Belgium & Luxembourg, told the publication.
It is understood the operation will take place at the directorate's headquarters in Brussels and a team of 20 Fujitsu employees will be tasked with carrying it out.
Earlier in the year, Fujitsu and the NHS announced that the IT services company would not be taking charge of the multi-million account to upgrade the health service's IT infrastructure in the south-east of the UK.
A recent Connect survey found that the two major concerns about outsourcing services like IT support were 'loss of control' (56 per cent) and 'budget over-runs' (43 per cent)
