Certain characteristics in human nature may make people vulnerable to PC threats, it has been claimed.
Panda Security said that in some situations, such as when people receive files from unknown senders, they cannot control their behaviour, which could expose them to malicious attacks, Web-User reported.
Despite warnings that people should avoid such files, a "surprising number of infections" are caused by people "giving in" to their human nature and clicking on them, the company revealed.
Panda Security spokesperson Dominic Hoskins commented: "With the development of Web 2.0, we are increasingly drawn into more sophisticated technology. There is more interaction at every level, and while this brings obvious advantages, it does deliver far more danger to unprepared users."
In related news, 80 per cent of UK IT security professionals do not expect companies to cut their spending on security, despite the credit crunch tightening companies' budgets, vnunet.com has reported.
