SMEs should implement security measures
The speed at which security threats are appearing is causing small and medium enterprise (SME) business managers to fail to implement adequate security measures.
It is believed that integrated appliances and managed security simplify the solution operations, according to proportal.com.
Web-based threats are deemed to be the most dangerous of security issues because the use of rich web browsers facilitates the downloading of malicious software.
Andrew Fourie from proportal.com states: "I believe outsourcing is a big growth area for SMEs. Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP) either remotely manage the security appliances or host and manage the company's security."
He added that an SME business manager will only need to define the security policy it wishes to implement, which will then become the responsibility of the MSSP.
However, the Times recently reported on the importance of safeguarding security, stating that careful consideration must be given prior to allowing external firms access to databases and documents.
