New virtualisation software rolled out by IBM
IBM has announced the launch of a new range of virtualisation software aimed at helping businesses manage volumes of data.
As part of the company's Big Project Green, the SAN Volume Controller (SVC) 4.3 software is said to improve the flexibility and responsiveness of IT infrastructures.
It is believed that IT departments will be able to respond more quickly to clients' needs, while reducing the amount of physical storage hardware systems needed.
This can also reduce energy consumption in data centres.
Barry Rudolph, vice-president of Storage Stack Solutions at IBM, said: "IBM is dedicated to helping its clients improve their information infrastructures through powerful virtualization technology."
He added that IBM has been the market leader in storage virtualisation since it was introduced on the market.
According to a report on publictechnology.net, Leeds partnership's NHS foundation trust implemented virtualisation technology to improve efficiency and disaster recovery capabilities across its two data centres at the beginning of the year.
