IT management goes Web 2.0

20th November 2007

A new web-based service that merges Web 2.0 innovations with IT management has been launched in beta.

Paglo aims to offer IT systems managers the ability to keep an overview of their network on a secure web server, while also being able to search for detailed information about the computers they manage even when they are not in the office.

The service uses a programme called Crawler to scour the IT network for information, which it then uploads to Paglo's secure servers.

IT managers can then make searches on the details of the network, such as for computers which have Office installed and the dates that the licenses for the software run out.

In a hands-on review of the service on WebWare, tech analyst Harrison Hoffman noted the product was currently free, although premium functions were likely to be introduced.

Outlining his favourite feature, he said: "Paglo's Dashboard can be compared to a customizable home page, with space for widgets that show you different data about your network.

"So, if you want to save your search for computers with Office installed, you can put that data on your Dashboard, in graph form, for quick reference."
