iPhone to debut in the UK on November 9th

Apple's new iPhone is to debut in the UK on November 9th, with O2 the exclusive partner carrier.

At a launch event at the Apple Store on London's Regent Street, the company's chief executive Steve Jobs said: ""We're thrilled to be partnering with O2 to offer our revolutionary iPhone to UK customers.

"US iPhone customer satisfaction is off the charts, and we can't wait to let UK customers get their hands on it and learn what they think of it."

The device is likely to be popular with technology fans but it will not revolutionise the way business is done on the move.

It is not a 3G phone, meaning that the much-trumpeted internet connectivity will be painfully slow when compared to other top-of-the-line mobiles already on the market. Some users have reported that web pages can take between 30 seconds and a minute to load.

However, with all the functions of a video iPod it will probably tempt many to shell out the £270 price tag.

A recent Connect survey found that the two major concerns about outsourcing services like IT support were 'loss of control' (56 per cent) and 'budget over-runs' (43 per cent)
