Average 3-year career for IT sales employees

The average stay for an IT sales employee within one particular company is three years, a new report has revealed.

According to IT sales and pre sales recruitment consultancy Robson Taylor, more that half (55 per cent) of all candidates who recently registered with the agency have been with their current employer for at least two years, while 40 per cent have been with the same company for three years or more.

Commenting on the findings, Robson Taylor's chief executive Kevin Buller said: "We carried out this research to help us and our clients to get an idea of how long people generally stay in a job before looking for something better.

"We understand from previous research that candidates often look to move because they are unhappy in their current position. Many of those surveyed complained that their role had been changed or misrepresented," he revealed.

The survey also revealed that just under a quarter (23 per cent) of candidates registered with Robson Taylor had been with the same employer for at least five years.
